Weekend Update

This weekend was really a fun time. It was quite a departure from the normal because I went to see angelkizzez in Mississippi. I had never been to MS before, despite my many travels down south.

My adventure started on Friday. I had a lay over in Memphis where they overbooked the plane. I was tempted to take the free roundtrip ticket and delay my arrival by several hours, but I didn't want to inconvenience angelkizzez or her precious little one. So, I got on the plane. The flight was uneventful until landing when they couldn't wake this guy up. We got off the plane and he was still passed out. I hope he's okay. Since I got in so late, Friday night was lost. We just retrieved the kiddo, grabbed some Sonic and went to bed.

Saturday started with no hot water. Apparently, there was some mishap that involved a move next door and accidental gas cutoff. So we went to Waffle House (which we got food poisining from so we were sick all day), did some shopping and then stopped at angelkizzez's mom's house for a nice shower. After that, we went to Longhorn Steakhouse for dinner(on a side note, they just built a new one of these in Allen Park. I highly recommend it) and to pick up some bookstore items. I love bookstores. Of course, I ended up buying more Sudoku stuff. I'm obsessed!(I have to put that on the list in my user profile).

After we got home, angelkizzez and I put the kiddo to bed and just hung out until the wee hours, imbibing and talking about all things big and small. It turns out that we are a lot alike. We have the same tastes, interests, etc. It's kind of strange to find another person that is close to being you, but so be it. We are not IDENTICAL or anything like that, but we have a lot in common. Go figure.

Anyway, Sunday we just lazed around until it was time to go. We hit up Sonic one more time (God I love Sonic), then she drove me to the airport. I flew in and out of New Orleans, so on the way I got to see the destruction that Hurricane Katrina caused. There are a lot of areas that are abandoned and still in shambles. My heart really goes out to those people. To see it with your own eyes and be moved, then to realize that you are seeing it a year AFTER the fact, it's very powerful.

The flight home was uneventful. There was this guy sitting next to me with a broken arm and scars on his face; I wonder what happened to him. I was too chicken to ask and he appeared on pain medication because he couldn't keep his eyes open. Anyway, they accidently switched around two baggage claims, so it took me 45 minutes to figure out where my luggage was. We were reunited, thankfully.

So, my trip in a nutshell. How was everyone else's weekend?
