Obviously, I don't have enough to do. :)

This November, I am participating in NaNoWriMo for the very first time. NaNoWriMo is short for National Novel Writing Month, where participants write a 50,000 word novel in ONE MONTH'S TIME. I'm a little intimidated and a little excited all rolled into one.

I have my novel plot. It will be called "Obituary." Here is the story (in 50 words or less):

Manny is the obituary writer for the local paper. At the behest of his boss, he begins to investigate the deaths of the morgue's unidentified courses. One of those corpses will lead Manny to the story of a lifetime...if he can keep from ending up in the morgue himself.

What is his "story of a lifetime?" I don't know yet. I have some ideas(both my own and buffyeas's), but I haven't decided where I want to go with it yet. I just had the vision of a man profoundly affected by an obituary he writes in the paper. The rest...well, the rest will have to come later. :)

I am still working on "Drive." I will be doing so until the end of the month, but I probably won't get to work on it in November.

That sounds like a very interesting premise! :D

I am mildly afraid that it will be utter crap, but at least it's something.

Re: Thanks

I'd love to read it!

Re: Thanks

When I finish it, I'll send it to you.

Also, if you would like to see "Drive", my novel in progress, feel free to friend thenoveldrive

I have three chapters to date.

garbage in garbage out or crap in crap out...oh come on you know your brilliant self isn't capable of writing utter crap. I'm sure when you finish you'll have some golden nuggets to really work with. good luck
... Did I send you this? If I didn't, I was so going to. I saw this somewhere and thought of you.

I'm thinking about participating myself. I finally got an idea. I'm just not sure I can do it... A novel in a month. It sounds so intimidating.
You actually did send it to me. I was going to give you credit when I started the post, but somehow I forgot during the post. Oy, my memory.

1,667 words per day every day for 30 days...

Have you registered yet? I haven't.

If you're going to do it, I kind of want to do it too, peer pressure and all.

I want to write a dark comedic novel about a small mid-western college but I'm still trying to work it out in my head. I feel like I should have some kind of outline before I get started. Are you writing an outline?

Sure would be great to have someone to talk things out with ...
hint hint

Re: 1,667 words per day every day for 30 days...

I have already registered. So has Denise, coincidentally. I am walkerb4, if you register and want to friend me.

I'm not writing an outline, but I am deciding on some things in my head. I'm one of those people who just dives in and lets the story take me where it may.

I have, however, made a word count schedule (because some days, I won't be able to write and some I will be able to write for hours.) If I can stick to that, I will make my 50,000 word count.

Sure you can talk things out with me! Email me and we can bounce ideas off of each other. :)
Yay you!! Can't wait to read. :)

I had a dream a few weeks ago and it's eerily similar in terms of the obit stuff. Weird. Were you linking brain cells again?

Maybe so!

I was brainstorming ideas. I knew I wanted it to be something about a writer, in honor of NaNoWriMo. I wanted something kinda unique, but I didn't know what...

Then, I was talking to someone about funerals and it just came to me. How about an obit writer?

My only problem now is that I have to figure out how to make the story revolve around this obituary.
